Timber flooring is a biodegradable, natural product, sourced
from a renewable resource. It is hypoallergenic so doesn’t
trap dust, pollen or other allergens and is ideal for
asthma sufferers and people with allergies.
Red Ironbark is a premium timber species
keenly sought within Australia and overseas for its
rich, distinctive red colour, its strength, durability,
fire retardant and specialty, high value use. Harvested
from natural regrowth stands, Red Ironbark has the most
durable rating available (Class One) and is suitable
for use in-ground for a minimum of 25 years, with a
considerably longer life as flooring, cladding and decking.
The deep red timber has a very high degree of natural
resistance to fungal decay and termite attack and high
resistance to the passage of electricity and ember attack.
Goldfields White Ironbark, also known
as Yellow Gum, is a medium-size forest
tree with a straight, well-formed trunk with fine, fibrous
bark at the base and smooth, grey, white or yellow bark
on its upper trunk and branches. Its hard, strong and
very durable wood has a Class Two durability rating
and is yellow to pale brown with pink tints around features.
Goldfields Grey Box is a medium to
large forest tree common in Victoria, north of the great
divide. It has a fine, weathered grey bark and prefers
to grow in moister sites and hill slopes. It has been
traditionally use for railway sleeper and fence posts
because of it’s high durability and strength,
but now it makes very attractive flooring for all to
enjoy.
Sugar gum is a very dense, blond to
tan, plantation grown native timber that polishes to
a superb finish. Available through sustainable harvesting
of mature stands, it also has a Class One durability
rating and some trees produce very desirable grain features
such as beeswing, birdseye and fiddleback. Sugar gum
was one of the species originally suggested by Ferdinand
von Mueller (who also named it) in the 1880s for direct
seeding of the Western District’s treeless plains.
